A month in the Brent–WTI spot spread
Research note published 6 November 2026. Historical daily observations in USD per barrel.
The observed range
The site matched 22 daily observations from 5 October through 3 November 2026. Brent minus WTI ranged from US$7.33/bbl on 2026-10-20 to US$34.96/bbl on 2026-10-12. The last paired observation was US$7.39/bbl.
What can be inferred
The series show that the difference between the two reference prices varied substantially across the window. A higher spread is consistent with several possible changes, including regional crude balances or relative logistics. These data alone cannot identify which mechanism drove any session.
Compare like with like
These are EIA spot observations. A Brent futures spread, an export netback and an assessed WTI Midland differential are different comparisons. For a specific cargo, align location, quality, freight and timing.
